Grant + Elaine Intimate Fall Wedding | Wisconsin

Grant + Elaine Intimate Fall Wedding | Wisconsin

This very intimate wedding was photographed at Elaine's parents home There were 20 people total present and only three of us were not family. Wow - that is not something we carried lightly.

Downtown Madison WI Wedding | Adam + Colleen

Downtown Madison WI Wedding | Adam + Colleen

One thing I remember very well about this wedding day is it seemed to fall on one of the hottest Madison summer days. The heat index was so high. My husband and I were debating in the car if this (most adorable) little chapel off James Madison Park, Gates of Heaven, had air conditioning or not. You see, I was about 4 1/2 weeks away from my due date of my third child. It did indeed have air conditioning (of which I was so thankful). Regardless of the heat, Adam and Colleens wedding day was so so wonderful and one of our favorites of the year because we just think the world of these two.

But also because, they chose to see one another throughout the morning instead of waiting until the bride walked down the aisle (in fact, they walked down the aisle together), they had their siblings (all sisters) as their bridal party, and because even in the heat and sweating like crazy they chose to take some time together for photos between the ceremony and reception. Jordan and I knew that it was going to be hot and also that their ceremony was ending early enough that it would still be very bright out at the point of pictures of just the two of them. So the week before we took our girls down to James Madison Park and then looked around for great locations within walking distance to take photographs. Luckily we came across the amazing Period Garden Park right up the street which was perfect. After we walked right on over to Coopers Tavern for the reception.

Adam and Colleen - we felt honored to be the ones to document your wedding day! We wish you many happy and healthy years together.

Madison barn photoshoot | Jeremy + Amanda

For as long as my children have been looking out the car window and talking about what they see, they have been saying hello to and commenting on a donkey, buffalo, and horses that they see, living on the property with a big barn right around the corner from my in laws. Well, one night this past summer we were driving our usual drive home and Jordan and I saw a wedding happening at that beloved barn! Being wedding photographers, this was exciting to us! Ever since then I was planning and thinking up a photo shoot there on the property of Emily's Ten Oaks Ranch

My friends agreed to be our models (Thanks a ton Jeremy and Amanda! You two rocked it!), the amazing Alice Ezrow did Amanda's hair and makeup, and Renee with Madison Wedding Flowers (also amazing!) created these two floral crowns and one herb crown for me!

Brides, I HIGHLY recommend a crown with rosemary, sage, and even lavender on your wedding day! Want to know why? Because the smell is absolutely amazing and it'll totally relax you (at least it did me as I wore it around after the photoshoot)!

One last thank you to my awesome husband and business partner who also has some great photos in the mix here. He's been working with me some in 2014 and all of 2015 and he's the best!

The Barn at Casey's Colorado Wedding | Eric + Becky

Jordan and I had the privilege of documenting Eric and Becky's wedding in beautiful Colorado just outside of Woodland Park. The wedding was at The Barn at Casey's Lumber yard and they were surrounded by loving friends and family.

The day was gorgeous but we knew that storms were a very possibly threat. The great thing about Becky is that if she was stressed or worried, it didn't show and her smile and laugh was as wonderful as ever. As it turns out the rain and wind came in full force right as it was time for the ceremony to start. They were ready to see one another and made the tough decision to move everything inside the barn but that didn't stop them from having their perfect wedding day.  Little did we know that Becky's dad collected some of that rain water to give them during his speech (the best speech I've heard in a long time). This day was especially meaningful not just because Eric and Becky were joining lives and committing to one another but also because Becky was making a commitment to Eric's son as well. It's an honor to be asked to document that kind of love. This family was a true joy to work with and I trust these images will be treasured when they look back over the years.

Also, for this wedding Jordan and I did something new and exciting. It's not quite ready yet to share here but I wanted to give a little teaser to keep an eye out for more goodness from this wedding. We put our heart and soul into this wedding and I hope you enjoy seeing what we captured. Enjoy!

At The Garden | Madison Family Storytelling Photography Session

I’m excited to share that I’ll be still doing family sessions (in addition to weddings) in 2015. I will be offering mini sessions this year, which will likely take place in the late summer or fall this year. Mini sessions will be the only time I will be doing posed family sessions. Aside from the sessions already on my schedule and the mini sessions, I will be focusing on Storytelling Sessions. These sessions take place in your home and in outdoor locations of significance following you along in some of your family routines. I want to be able to document a families life as it is now. Check out this abbreviated sessions from last summer and be on the lookout for several more that will be hitting this blog soon. Shared meal with neighbors, a walk to the community garden plot, and a whole lot of down to earth, no fuss kind of goodness. These people are my kind of people.
