John + Jessica Barn Wedding in Oregon, IL

John + Jessica Barn Wedding in Oregon, IL

John and Jessica got married on a perfect summer day at Oak Lane of Oregon. We knew right away that John and Jessica were the type of couple we would be so very excited to photograph. Everything about them was warm and welcoming and that was confirmed 100% on their wedding day as we witnessed and photographed their interactions between them and their family and friends. Everyone was so genuine and full of fun.

A couple highlights from the day... Those adorable nephews! Come on! They carried these huge signs down the aisle that said "She says she needs 10 more minutes" and "Just kidding! Here comes your bride". The big pot belly pig was free to roam around during the day. He came out of the barn at the start of the ceremony and roamed through the aisles after the ceremony finished. The grooms family planned the most heart warming and fun surprise for the bride and groom outside on the lawn while they changed the reception over to get ready for the dancing.  What a sweet surprise that had all the guests laughing and enjoying themselves AND (bonus for me) gave me a great opportunity to get candid photographs of happy people in some gorgeous light. Speaking of the dancing - I love a good dance party and this wedding did not disappoint thanks to Felix and Fingers dueling pianos

John and Jessica - thank you for the honor of photographing your wedding day. We loved getting to know the two of you and celebrate you on such a wonderful day.

Check out some images!

Madison Warner Park Rec Center Wedding | Ben + Amanda

Ben and Amanda got married on a windy and cold May day. The weather wasn't ideal or what we had hoped for but what matters to me more than a "perfect" or "ideal" day is a couple who trusts us, is willing to do what it takes for great wedding photos, and enjoys the moment regardless of the weather. They got married at the Warner Park Rec Center on Madison's North Side with their loved ones surrounding them.

Huge thanks also to Charles for photographing with me as my second shooter!

Madison East Side Wedding Photography | George + Jenny

George and Jenny contacted me less than two months before their wedding date to book me for their wedding and I am so glad I was free for their day. We met up at Graze downtown and we knew instantly that we enjoyed being around the two of them. Their wedding ceremony stared off at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Madison, WI. It was a sunny Madison day with pretty perfect weather! Their reception was at the East Side Club and with good catered by The Underground Food Collective Catering - it's sure to be some of the best reception food you'll have in Madison, WI.

Thank you George and Jenny for having me on your special day! You could have easily passed on a photographer for your wedding day, but I am honored that you chose me to document your wedding.

Madison barn photoshoot | Jeremy + Amanda

For as long as my children have been looking out the car window and talking about what they see, they have been saying hello to and commenting on a donkey, buffalo, and horses that they see, living on the property with a big barn right around the corner from my in laws. Well, one night this past summer we were driving our usual drive home and Jordan and I saw a wedding happening at that beloved barn! Being wedding photographers, this was exciting to us! Ever since then I was planning and thinking up a photo shoot there on the property of Emily's Ten Oaks Ranch

My friends agreed to be our models (Thanks a ton Jeremy and Amanda! You two rocked it!), the amazing Alice Ezrow did Amanda's hair and makeup, and Renee with Madison Wedding Flowers (also amazing!) created these two floral crowns and one herb crown for me!

Brides, I HIGHLY recommend a crown with rosemary, sage, and even lavender on your wedding day! Want to know why? Because the smell is absolutely amazing and it'll totally relax you (at least it did me as I wore it around after the photoshoot)!

One last thank you to my awesome husband and business partner who also has some great photos in the mix here. He's been working with me some in 2014 and all of 2015 and he's the best!

Farm to Table Event on the farm in Madison, WI | Good Food Garden Party

The Good Food Garden Party is a Community Groundworks fundraising event with a farm to table meal held right in the midst of the beautiful community garden plots and kids garden near Troy Community Farm on Madison's North side.

What I know to be true about this event:

It's held in September which is one of the best times to enjoy a walk through the community gardens. Usually the plots are bursting with plants and flowers, with no two plots looking exactly the same. Oliver's Public House (one of several amazing vendors) was sure to serve up some seriously delicious food, and Gail Ambrosius chocolates NEVER disappoint!

Other vendors:

The Cajun Cook

The Goodie Two Shoes

The Looking Glass Bakery

Salvatore's Tomato Pies
